Kali shares a hard-earned lesson that changed everything, after years of wearing ‘busyness’ like a badge of honour.
I wanted to share something that’s close to my heart… something I’ve had to learn the hard way: The importance of taking time out and making space to breathe.
In a world that pushes us to keep going, keep achieving, and keep saying “yes,” I’ve discovered that rest is not a reward, it’s a necessity.
I burned out. Twice.
In my previous career, I didn’t have boundaries. I didn’t know when to stop, and I didn’t know how to give myself permission to step back. But those experiences taught me something powerful – that protecting my energy is the key to showing up fully, joyfully, and sustainably.
Now, I make sure to switch off in the evenings and weekends. I block out time to reset, to just be, and to reconnect with what matters. That shift has made all the difference! Not just to my wellbeing, but to how I show up in life and in this work.
A few things I’ve learned along the way:
Prioritise self-care: It’s not selfish, it’s sacred.
Set boundaries: They’re not walls, they’re bridges to balance.
Stay positive: Even small mindset shifts create powerful ripple effects.
Build resilience: Every challenge is an invitation to grow.
Try this for yourself:
Give yourself regular mini-breaks during the day.
Schedule non-negotiable time for what nourishes you.
Explore mindfulness, breath work, or just sitting in nature.
Reach out for support – we’re not meant to do this alone.
So, my invitation to you today is this:
Take care of yourself, connect with those who lift you up, and celebrate the wins, big and small. And if you’re in a season where you feel stretched or tired, please give yourself permission to pause. You are enough, just as you are, and this journey is unfolding exactly as it should.
